The Banks Monster-Ram improves throttle response and fuel economy by eliminating airflow restrictions. By replacing the failure-prone factory grid heater with the included Banks high-flow billet intake plate, severe engine damage is prevented. Monster-Ram is the only 50-state emissions-compliant RAM intake elbow.

What it does:

The Monster-Ram improves airflow from the intercooler. It flows 72.7 lbs/min MAF (Mass Air Flow) with Banks' High-Flow Heater and Billet Intake Plate compared to stock's 38.6 lbs/min MAF.

Monster-Ram raises boost without increasing backpressure at the turbine. The result is a more responsive, power-efficient engine that offers even more headroom than stock for higher horsepower applications.

The complete system:

Banks' High-Flow Heater and Billet Intake Plate complete the perfect system. The High-Flow Heater allows for the removal of the restrictive stock heater grid plate. The new vertical coil-style heater provides the same functionality for cold starts as the stock grid heater but without obstructing airflow. Replacing the restrictive stock grid heater plate with the Banks High-Flow Intake Plate removes all obstructions and turbulence in the airflow path.

How it was designed:

Utilizing the latest in CFD (computational fluid-dynamics), tested on the flow bench, the dyno, and on-road, Monster-Ram is a beast that only Banks could have unleashed. A direct-replacement aluminum casting, Monster-Ram is instant power, performance, and acceleration gratification. The factory inlet elbow is cramped and angular in order to accommodate the path of the stock No. 1 fuel line. Banks Engineers designed a new No. 1 fuel line, allowing the Monster-Ram to flow more air without obstruction.

Expandable:

With four 1/8 inch NPT ports, perfect for temperature and pressure sensors, the sky's the limit for data acquisition.

Beats the competition:

Like all Banks products, the Monster-Ram was tested against all available competitors. It more than doubles the improvement over the closest competitor.

Frequently Asked Question

Q1: How much horsepower does the Banks Monster-Ram Intake add on a 6.7L Cummins?

A: On a stock 6.7L Cummins, you can expect 8–15 HP gains and noticeably quicker turbo spool. With a tuner and exhaust upgrades, gains can increase even further due to reduced airflow restriction.

Q2: Does the Monster-Ram help fuel economy?

A: Yes. By improving airflow efficiency, the Monster-Ram enhances combustion and often yields 2–4% better fuel economy under consistent driving conditions.

Q3: Will this Monster-Ram fit my 2008 or 2012 Ram 2500 Cummins?

A: Yes. It fits all 2007.5–2012 Ram 2500 and 3500 6.7L Cummins models. It’s a direct bolt-on upgrade using factory mounting points and includes the proprietary fuel line and hardware.

Q4: Can I use it with other performance parts or tuners?

A: Definitely. The Banks Monster-Ram works with both stock and aftermarket intercoolers, exhaust systems, and tuners. No ECU recalibration is required.

Q5: Is this Monster-Ram intake system CARB approved?

A: This 2007.5–2012 version is currently pending CARB approval for 50-state emissions compliance. It’s legal for off-road and competition use where emissions rules do not apply.

Q6: Will installing this intake void my vehicle warranty?

A: No. Because it doesn’t alter ECU programming or fuel delivery, it typically does not void factory warranties under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Always confirm with your dealer.

Q7: How long does it take to install the Banks Monster-Ram?

A: Installation takes roughly 2 hours with common hand tools. All gaskets, fittings, and the proprietary fuel line are included in the kit.

Q8: Do I need tuning after installation?

A: Nope — the Monster-Ram is engineered to work perfectly on both stock and tuned setups without any ECU tuning required.

Q9: How does the Banks Monster-Ram compare to stock or other brands?

A: The Banks Monster-Ram outflows stock by 88.3% and delivers over 40% better flow than the next-best competitor, based on CFD and flow-bench testing.

Q10: What makes the Banks High-Flow Heater better than the factory grid heater?

A: The stock grid heater restricts airflow and can fail, causing severe engine damage. Banks replaces it with a coil-style High-Flow Heater that maintains cold-start reliability without airflow blockage.
