The Mopar ECM (2019–2021 Cummins 6.7L) is an OEM engine control module designed for 2019–2021 Ram trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins engine. This controller is widely used as the required replacement unit for 2022–2024 Cummins ECM swap setups when preparing the truck for supported tuning platforms.
For 2022–2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 models, the factory ECM cannot be directly calibrated. A 2019–2021 controller must be installed as part of a structured ECM swap process before tuning can be performed.

Why 2022–2024 Trucks Require This ECM
Beginning in 2022, Cummins/Ram introduced controller changes that restrict direct calibration access. To properly prepare the truck for tuning, the process requires:
- Installing a compatible 2019–2021 ECM
- Loading the appropriate recovery file
- Completing immobilizer pairing
- Flashing supported tuning files
This Mopar unit provides the correct hardware foundation for that procedure.
A swapped 2019-2021 controller still sits behind the factory security gateway on 2019 and newer RAM trucks. The Smart Access Cable is required before MPVI4 can read or flash the ECM once the swap and immobilizer pairing are done.
